Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation late on Sunday to discuss the consequences of the US and Israeli war of aggression against Iran.
During the phone call, the two top diplomats exchanged their views on bilateral relations, the latest developments in the region and world regarding the ongoing US and Israel war of aggression imposed against Iran.
Describing the crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Iranian nation over the past 37 days, including attacks on Iran's industrial and production infrastructures, hospitals, schools, residential areas, as well as Iran's nuclear facilities and centers, Iran’s top diplomat emphasized the need for urgent action by the relevant international institutions, especially the UN Security Council (UNSC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to condemn these crimes and hold the aggressors accountable.
Araghchi referred to the US threats to attack Iranian energy infrastructures and facilities, considering the US officials’ rhetoric ‘as a clear admission of committing war crimes.’
The Iranian foreign minister called for a responsible approach based on the international law by all influential parties in the UN Security Council, and prevent the US from using the Council as a tool.
The foreign minister of Russia, for his part, recalled the Russia’s principled stance in condemning the US and Israeli military aggression against Iran, stressing the need to stop the illegal US and Israeli attacks on the civilian targets, especially the Bushehr nuclear power plant,.
Lavrov expressed readiness of his country to use utmost efforts to prevent the spread of conflicts in the region.
